Would a self-hosted business reporting tool be useful to you?

Hi everyone,

I'm exploring a project for small businesses and would love some feedback.

The idea is a self-hosted reporting and analytics tool that connects to your existing databases and business systems so you can quickly understand what's happening in your business without building dashboards or writing SQL.

Some examples:

  • Compare sales across different periods
  • Identify your most profitable customers or products
  • Track key business metrics over time
  • Generate reports from data that already exists in your systems

The goal is to keep things simple:

  • Runs on your own server
  • Data stays under your control
  • Works with your existing databases
  • No per-user or per-report pricing

I'm curious:

  1. How do you currently analyze your business data?
  2. What's the most frustrating part of reporting today?
  3. Would you consider self-hosting if it kept costs low and your data private?
  4. What kind of reports or insights do you wish were easier to get?

Not selling anything—just trying to understand whether this solves a real problem for small businesses.

Thanks!

P.s: Yes an AI did help me generate this post but these are my thoughts regardless. Appreciate your time!
