What are these tiny black flies, and what can I use as bait?
Southern central Tennessee. May, June.
Tiny black flies swarming my sink and trash can. They perch on my sink and cupboards.
Maintenance called them sewer flies but they are not fuzzy. They are also not skinny like mosquitoes. They look more like miniature house flies than fruit flies. He said the neighbors across the hall had a busted sewer pipe and he was cleaning up and spreading lye.
I'm stumped.
My bug zapper is only marginally effective. They were not attracted to the juice I used as bait. Juice + drop of dawn covered in plastic with holes is normally effective but not with these. I'm out of cheap sweet wine, but that's my next step.
Thanks
