[Urgent] Woke up with difficuilty swallowing, left side aching unbearably, jaw locked, & weird lump feeling on my throat/neck. Is this normal?
**Background:** Recently had a few appointments this month. Initially, dental cleaning & checkup, then found out a root canal was needed & then now a wisdom tooth removal
No allergies [as far as I know] with the medications prescribed. Never smoked or drank alcohol, let alone did any drugs
Note: Skip to" ⚠️" if tl;dr — Timeline is for specifics to get better understanding. I don't know if any of these symptoms are normal. Please enlighten me :')
**[Specifics] Time Line:**
06/03/26 — First session of root canal treatment on one of my lower left molars. No issue experienced aside from minor aches that are tolerable. Could bite / chew well
06/06/26 — Felt Feverish & lightheaded. The aching pain became more evident but was tolerable with medication. Maybe normal after a few days after root canal?
06/07/26 — Trouble sleeping because the entire area on my left side was severely aching / inflamed. Couldn't bite or chew properly anymore even with medication. Jaw locked & incredibly tense.
06/08/26 — Dental appointment to get the filling adjusted because biting or touching my teeth hurt. Found out the pain I was experiencing prior was because of my left wisdom tooth + trauma from rct
They finally prescribed me antibiotics.
⚠️ **PRESENT || 06/09/26** — Woke up in pain & unable to swallow. Crying, laughing, & opening my mouth hurts. Took pain relievers / anti-inflammatory pills & the pain lessened but still trouble with swallowing
There's a weird lump feeling on my neck/throat and I could feel it everytime I swallow. Online says potential abscess.
I might be overreacting.
**Note:** I don't have a sore throat, I took antibiotics last night pero I just have a feeling that something is wrong
Is this normal ? What do I do? Should I go to another dentist for a second opinion or the hospital to get it checked?
Please help / share similar experiences.
