I don't know what to do anymore
Sorry if there are any spelling mistakes or if this is written awkwardly. I originally wrote it in Spanish and then asked ChatGPT to translate it because I don't know enough English to write something like this myself, but I really needed help and wanted to vent.
Ever since I was very young, I've had a habit of picking at scabs. It's very addictive. Because of this, my legs, thighs, and butt look awful. I wish I could wear skirts without people looking at me strangely.
My mother is the reason I feel insecure about it. She says she would be embarrassed to be seen with me if I showed my legs. Although I think I might have developed this habit because of her, since she does the same thing. She always wears long-sleeved shirts and long pants because she is covered in scars, just like me (although I do wear short-sleeved shirts and tank tops).
I want to shave my legs so I can go outside wearing skirts and shorts. To stop myself from picking at my scabs, I've tried wearing gloves, and they work fairly well. However, since we painted our house about a month ago, I haven't worn them because I put them away somewhere else and got out of the habit. But I'm going to start wearing them again.
I've also started using a cream that people say is very good for reducing scars and marks. I hope it works.
Do you have any other advice on how to stop picking at scabs? Do you think it's a good idea for me to show my legs and wear shorts or skirts even though I have a lot of scars?
