My LSAT Accommodated Test Experience: A total Prometric/LSAC horror story (but with some good news at the end)
I literally just took my accommodated LSAT this past Saturday and it was the most emotionally exhausting, chaotic experience of my life. I cried three separate times during this exam solely because of LSAC and Prometric screwing me over.
I logged in at 2:40 PM for a 3:00 PM test, expecting to be done by 5:00 PM. I did not finish until 8:00 PM. A 3-hour test window turned into a grueling 5 hours of tech issues and proctor incompetence. I went through EIGHT different proctors due to issues completely on their end. To make matters worse, a couple of them didn't even have working microphones, so communication was a total mess.
They kept claiming my webcam was blurry and lagging. Mind you, my pre-system check was 100% clear and ready to go. My Wi-Fi speed is over 250 Mbps download and 40 Mbps upload, and I was sitting right next to my router. It was completely obvious that the lagging was entirely on their end. To try and fix "their" visibility issues, I had to crank my Macbook brightness all the way up, even though my room lights were on and my feed looked perfectly clear on my screen. The proctors don't stick to any standard rules. One told me to close my blinds... which were already closed. They then made me open them and close them again right in front of the camera.
I wear a hijab, and the initial proctors didn't check my clothes or my ears at all. Suddenly, in the middle of my test during the intermission, a new proctor decides they finally need to check my ears. I had issues logging in because it kept saying my password was incorrect. I wrote it down on my scratch paper to look at it, and they flagged me because apparently you can't even write it down in front of them? I had to exit out of the application entirely.
The Prometric environment on their audio end was so loud. When I actually got a proctor with a working mic, I could barely hear them speaking to me because people on their side were literally laughing in the background. Because I had to keep my brightness on max to appease them, my Macbook started overheating and the battery was draining fast. I asked, "Hey, can I plug in my laptop charger?" and they straight up told me NO because I wasn't allowed to leave the camera view to grab/plug it in. Sure enough, during the final section with 8 minutes left, my laptop completely died. I absolutely panicked, thinking I had just lost the entire test and all my hard work. Fortunately, I didn't lose my progress, but I had to go through the entire re-check-in process while freaking out, just to wait for those final 8 minutes to tick down.
By 8:00 PM, I was completely drained. I am 100% submitting an official complaint to LSAC about this because no one should have to endure this level of stress during one of the most important exams of their life.
But for some good news to end this rant: Despite the absolute psychological warfare Prometric put me through, the actual content of the test went amazing! I was able to approach every single section with ease and finished each one with tons of time to spare.
I'm trying to hold onto that silver lining. Wish me luck for that high score!
