Hello and welcome to Ability-a-Day! The series started by u/ianlazrbeem22 & u/zG-FuRy plus continued by myself.

Previous day: [Ability-a-Day #82: Shadow Tag](https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemonplatinum/comments/1tzp44r/abilityaday_82_shadow_tag/)

Today, we have Shed Skin. The Pokémon has a 30% chance of curing its own status conditions at the end of every turn. This ability is used by Metapod, Kakuna, Ekans, Arbok, Dratini, Dragonair, Pupitar, Silcoon, Cascoon, Seviper, Kricketot and Burmy.

This seems like great ability at curing its own status conditions, but the problem is that ability is mostly used by cocoon pokemon or middle-stage pokemon, At least Arbok and Seviper can use this more often, but Arbok likes to run mostly Intimidate.

Also, if Shed Skin cures an status condition, it does so before any burn or poison damage is dealt on that turn. Shed Skin pairs quite well with Rest as it may cure its sleep condition at the end of a turn. It is a very good situational ability overall, curing Paralysis, Sleep and Burns just at the end of a turn.

From the next generation onwards, Shed Skin has 1/3 chance of curing a status condition at the end of a turn. More Pokemon would also have Shed Skin, such as Karrablast, Scrafty, Spewpa, Sandaconda, Rellor and Cyclizar. You can try to tell me your thoughts about this ability.

What do you think about Shed Skin, have you used it successfully? If anything I'm missing? Just let me know!
