Aadvantage hotel in my name for spouse + linking to another reservation

So my spouse needs a hotel for 3 nights. I booked first 2 nights via Chase Travel to take advantage of $250 hotel credit, and booked the 3rd night using Aadvantage hotels for the AA LPs.

I called hotel already and confirmed they have the 2 reservations, they added my IHG #, and added
spouses name on the first one only. I asked them to add because he would be arriving first and would need to check in. This seemed fine.

They then told me that “we” would need to check out and check in again for second reservation (normal), but the she mentioned she didn’t need to add his name to second because we would both be there.

The catch is that we will not in fact both be there as my butt will be at home. I’m probably overthinking but I don’t want him to run onto issues doing the check out / check in thing withe nowhere to be seen.

Anybody done something similar?
