What to do with family vacations

About a year ago I told my husband that I was at a breaking point with our marriage and felt like we needed to separate. He argued that he could turn things around and asked me to “give him time” and to
agree to counseling. We have been doing counseling but not much has changed and my feelings are as they were a year ago. That said, I know he is not going to agree to a separation since I have raised it several times and he keeps saying that he needs time.

I know that I am going to have to be the one to make the moves but my question is really around timing. We are supposed to take a vacation soon with our son and I want to give my son a good vacation but also don’t know if we should go and then me come back saying I am done. Have others stuck to family trips/plans even while working on ending the marriage?
