Upgrade Credit Card (the company, not the verb)
Has anyone here used the Upgrade Life Rewards card? I am about to receive it after allaying some concerns about their weird setup, which apparently turns every purchase into a mini-installment loan.
Apparently they used to start charging interest from the first day the charge posts, but have since relented and behave more like a regular card with 0% interest until after the statement date. I went ahead because my use case — which involves paying off any credit charges as soon as they post — would be immune to any ill effects of the installment loan model.
I applied only because I wanted a replacement for my Aven 3% flat cash back (Aven is also weird company). Aven was fine, but they cap the 3% reward to only the first $10,000 worth of charges per year, and I burned through that already. The Life Rewards only does 3% on gas, groceries, streaming and utilities which is fine by me as I already have 5% back on groceries and gas, and 4% on dining with other cards, and really only need this one for utilities and streaming.
Just wondering whether anyone has experience with this card and can share positives and negatives.
