Verbal offer at major US R1 after 2 applications. Stays: 0 publications, 0 patents, 0 successfully funded government grants, 4 conference presentations, and a loottttt of teaching experience (PhD in STEM from different major US R1). My PhD experience has been fairly miserable and unproductive for reasons somewhat beyond my control, so it feels amazing to have found a mentor who sees my potential as a researcher, even without concrete outputs. To be fair, my sub-discipline is small, and I believe that I’ve gained a reputation as being a good team player and a hard worker, even if things don’t pan out. I’m excited to be a personality hire. :-)
