The reason most Indian CS freshers don’t get shortlisted isn’t their skills — it’s their resume and communication. ?
I'm going to say something that might be unpopular:
Most freshers I interact with are NOT unqualified. They've done the courses, built the projects, know their Python.
The gap is almost always presentation + communication.
**Resume side:**
- Projects described in passive, academic language with no outcomes
- Skills section that lists everything they've ever Googled
- No GitHub, or GitHub with abandoned repos
- Education-first format even when CGPA is average
**Interview side:**
- Can explain WHAT they built, not WHY they made those decisions
- Freeze on "what would you do differently?" questions
- Underprepared on SQL even for ML roles
- No real questions for the interviewer at the end
The technical bar for entry-level roles isn't as high as people think. What's high is the bar for clearly communicating your thinking under pressure.
If you fixed just the resume and practiced 10 project walkthroughs out loud — I genuinely think 70% of you would start seeing interview calls within 3–4 weeks.
Curious what others think. Am I wrong?
