Intune iOS fileprovider
Really scratching my head here, resorted to reading all the headers of the obj-C classes.
Sorry if my terminology isn’t sharp, I’m an iOS developer and the whole MDM and MAM world is a bit overwhelming.
I have an app that is under intune MAM, I now did an NSReplicatedFileProvider, and used the sans-UI intune framework for that.
Everything is setup and running.
My goal is to use the fileprovider to access and open a file from my app directly in word through the UIActivityController or UIDocumentInteractionController.
Like get my file and the user taps it and gets the open in dialog with word in the list.
Is that even possible? I am starting to doubt it. I made my policy so lenient it basically allows everything (encryption is still required but the headers say that is not enforced in the swizzling). Still I only get the default OS options in the dialog (copy, save to files etc) not a word icon.
If I go to the Files app on my device I can see the location and I can open a word doc and it opens directly in word and I can edit and via fileprovider and WebDAV changes are PUT to the backend.
I know Files probably have access to internal API’s and more relaxed permissions to maybe go “UIApplication.openURL(fileURL) and that plays nicer with documents from CloudStorage, but what to do from my app to get that functionality.
At my wits end here, so many variables when App, extension, MAM and two times Intune SDK is involved.
