Can Strategist jean grey still happen?

A lot of people were disappointing that phoenix basically uses no telepath/telekinesis powers. and i was thinking, how they so far gave phoenix none of jean classic skins (her 90's or marvel girl costume for example) and all her current skins are either phoenix related or rivals originals.
They also made sure to attach this phoenix stand behind her, what if that was to make the phoenix and a future strategist jean distinguishable in battle?
am i just running on high copium? or is that feasible?
