Opinions wanted

So my friend dashes as well. When he started, he sent all his customers a “cute” note which he swears gets him more added tips. And I’ve seen evidence of a few of them. I personally think it’s tacky and have never done it.
BUT next week is my last week doing this before I go to DC for a gig this summer. I really need more money so I can sustain myself for the 2 weeks before I get paid. I thought about doing the message thing for my last week as a Hail Mary- what are the general thoughts on this? I still think it’s tacky but I could use some funding to go teach Shakespeare to kids this summer. Let me know your thoughts on this please. Thank you in advance.
