Please help me find this song

The lyrics I can remember are “Well the night fell short, with a long goodbye, and the road back home was so dark and quiet. i was all strung out on my own fairytale and the bedtime stories that my parents used to tell” and it sounds like the last revel but I can’t find it!! I’ve googled all of that over and over again and it just keeps popping up with a song called Carmelita, but that’s not it.
