Shazam memory
I remember seeing a Kazaam advertisement in a science and technology magazine at school. The magazine was only given to schools and was imported. We weren’t allowed to lose them because you had to hand the old issue back before getting a new one.
I can’t remember the name of the magazine, but I do remember that one issue had a gold flying car with small wings on the cover. It looked a bit like the Lotus Esprit from the James Bond films when it transformed into the underwater vehicle. The image seemed to be a painting or a marker-style illustration rather than a photograph.
I remember the Kazaam advertisement having a lamp at the bottom with smoke coming out of it, similar to the Kazaam movie cover. Sinbad appeared to be leaning slightly to the right on the cover, and there was gold writing or a gold heading at the top of the page. Like the Kazaam movie poster, there was movie information printed along the bottom.
That’s really all I know about “Shazaam.” This would have been around 1997. The main reason I remember it is that it seemed strange to me at the time that there were supposedly two genie movies with Black actors released around the same period.
The only other thing I clearly remember from that time was a parent-teacher telling me and some other kids that Star Wars was based on a book.
Around the same period, I also had my first and most intense experience of déjà vu, which really freaked me out at the time.
Cheers
