What to expect from Magistrates Court? - England
I've just returned from the police station after a period of bail where I've been charged with Harassment without Violence and bailed further with instruction to surrender to court in a months time.
I don't have any legal representation and I'm not sure if I need this. I'm 100% guilty and I'm happy to accept any punishment the court deems necessary. I won't even attempt to defend myself unless I hear something that's wildly untrue.
I'm just wondering what court itself will be like? Will my victim have been invited to attend on the same day? Is it a case of a judge giving me a guilty verdict and then sentencing me on the same day? Is it like the courts on TV shows where the opposing lawyer will bring up every aspect of my personal life? The uncertainty is what's worrying me.
