Rework
Has anyone else felt like they're being judged before their skills are even seen?
I've spoken to a lot of students and freelancers recently, and a common complaint keeps coming up:
- "I don't have the right connections."
- "My university isn't well known."
- "Clients prefer people from certain countries."
- "Recruiters reject applications without explanation."
Maybe I'm wrong, but it feels like many opportunities are decided before someone gets the chance to prove themselves.
If you could redesign online hiring from scratch, what would you remove first?
Names?
Photos?
Location?
School?
I'm asking because some friends and I are building Rework, a platform that experiments with skill-first hiring, and we're trying to understand what people think is broken in the current system.
Would love to hear your experiences.
