Day 376 of my free to play journey, I finally got Marius! I can still remember the first time I encountered this horse. I was a new player trying to climb classic arena. I was spamming free refreshes trying to look for solo defenses. And there he was, all by himself. I challenged him looking for a free win, and of course, got rekt. I have wanted him ever since.

If you’re still on your way to Marius, I’ll leave some tips that helped me along the way. If you already have Marius, feel free to leave tips for those who are still on the grind. Here are mine in no particular order:

1. Read the Marius missions list way in advance to help you get a grasp on what’s to come. If you hate reading, Boozor has a Youtube video discussing some upcoming missions that can be troublesome if you don’t prepare for it.
2. For the win 40 live arena matches mission, a good tip if you want to speed that up, is to lose matches beforehand. Also, save the stocked live arena tokens in your inbox for this. When I was close to this mission, I started forfeiting (losing) all my matches leading up to it. I lost around 20-30 consecutive matches if I remember correctly. This allowed me to win 20 consecutive matches when I finally got the mission. I also got the red “win 10 live arena matches in a row” badge unintentionally. I got that mission done in just 2 days using this strategy.
3. For the missions that require you to get x amount of mythical artifact/accessories from dungeons, be sure to farm dungeon hard stages since mythical gear only drop from hard stages, not normal. Of course hard 10 is the best stage to farm so make sure you have teams that are capable of farming hard 10 dungeons. Also, you can complete these missions with the gear auto sell feature turned on. I had mine turned on the whole time and was able to finish the missions.
4. There will be missions tied to Cursed City Hard. This means you are going to have to invest in champions that will help you in this area, depending on the rotation. For example, I had to max level, max book and max master Bowf the Rancid (epic) because I needed him to kill Amius Hard.
5. To beat Amius Hard for the first time, you are going to have to learn how to manual the fight. That means you have to know how the fight actually works. For this, I highly recommend watching “KBop a doo” on Youtube. She has a lot of content on how to beat Marius using fairly accessible teams.
6. For Stone Skin, Impulse and Zeal sets, make sure you have at least 1 weapon, 1 helmet, 1 shield, 1 gauntlet, 1 chestplate and 1 boot for each set. There will be a mission that requires you to equip 6 artifacts from each of these sets on a champ.
7. The missions that require you to collect x amount of immortal soul essences, are purely rng, but, you can sort of speed those up by using gems to get 6 more keys per day on Iron Twins. I personally only bought extra keys during Sundays (Void day) because the drops were doubled.
8. Leave a certain amount of mortal soul coins, soul essences, clan gold, and great hall crests floating because there are missions that require you to spend these currencies.
9. Don’t immediately sell duplicate or unwanted souls from your soul collection because there is a mission that requires you to sell a certain amount of souls.
10. Don’t immediately awaken your champs if you don’t need them yet because there are missions that require you to awaken champs to level 2 and level 4.

These are the only ones that I remember off the top of my head. Good luck and remember to have fun. It’s a game after all. How long did it take you to get Marius?

Finally the best overall champ in the game is mine (+ tips)
