Worst birthday ever

So today was my 15th birthday, I went to the dmv and got my learners license, that took about an hour and then I went back home to see my dad rushing my oldest dog out of the house for a vet appointment. Apparently she is going to be put down which is obviously sad but she was very old so I have been prepared and am not as sad as I would’ve been. But everybody is just disregarding my birthday for my dog and I am mad about it. Does that make me selfish or is this a valid reason to be upset?
