Permanently banned from MTG Arena for playing against my own second account – is there any hope?

Discussion

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some advice because I'm honestly pretty devastated.

I've been playing MTG Arena for years and have spent a lot of time (and little money) on the game. Recently, I was permanently banned because I used a second account to queue into matches against myself on the ranked ladder so I could earn gold more quickly and draft more often. And i figured out that if i queue in timeless ranked-best of 3, (which really no one plays) i play most of the times against my friend/second account. So I didnt use cheats or anything.

To be clear, I'm not denying that I did it. I understand now that it violated the rules. The problem is that I genuinely didn't realize it could result in a permanent ban. I wasn't trying to sell accounts, use hacks, or ruin the experience for other players. I just wanted to grind gold for drafts.

I appealed to support, apologized, admitted what I did, and explained that I would never do it again. Unfortunately, my appeal was denied.

What I'm struggling with is that this was my first offense and there was no warning beforehand. I completely understand receiving a suspension or losing rewards, but a permanent ban on an account I've invested years into feels very harsh. Before opening the second account i grinded daylies for years and had earned through them and limited/draft rewards about 180k gold and 22k gems. I didnt spent more than 20$, so i grinded a lot on this account.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Were you ever able to get a ban reduced after a second appeal, or is a permanent ban usually final?

I know I made a mistake, and I'm not asking people to defend what I did. I'm just trying to understand whether there's any realistic path to getting my account back.

Thanks for reading.
