Is this emotional unavailability or what ?

So I was seeing / dating a guy for four months all going well until he said he was having a hard time and that he felt he needed to remove his romantic side for now because it’s too confusing and inconsistent for him which is never ideal, and that is not that he doesn’t want to see me again or hang out but thinks he just needs some me time and don’t want to put on a brave face on with the people he cares

Fast forward a couple of months later we saw each other due to some logistic issue and the I asked him why he acted like as if what we had never existed and that’s kinda sad so he said I should not getting him wrong he was disappointed but after a shitty break up he found easy to turn a cold shoulder and move on and that he knows it’s not nice to hear but that’s unfortunately that’s where he is at. So I just think he is very emotional immature or still traumatised by past experiences which is sad because I thought we had potential.
