Saudi student moving to Valencia for a Master's — visa appointment + general questions

Hi everyone! I'm from Saudi Arabia and I've been accepted into a Master's program starting this September.

I'm currently trying to get my student visa sorted but I'm running into issues — there are literally no appointment slots available on the BLS website for a national visa (visado de estudios). I've called BLS and they said slots update weekly, but I haven't seen anything open up. I've also emailed the embassy. Has anyone else dealt with this? How long did it take you to get an appointment?

I also have some general questions for anyone who's been through this or lives in Valencia:

1. How long did the student visa actually take to process after you submitted your application? The embassy says 15-45 days but what's the reality?

2. Is there anything I might need for the visa that's not on the official checklist? Any documents that caught you off guard?

3. For those living in Valencia / is there anything I should sort out immediately after arriving? (empadronamiento, TIE appointment, NIE, bank account, etc.) What's the order of things?

4. How soon should I book my TIE appointment? I've heard the wait times are long.

5. Any general tips for a first-time international student in Spain? Things you wish you knew before arriving?

I already have my acceptance letter, health insurance (Sanitas), and financial documents ready. Just stuck on the appointment situation right now.

¡Hola a todos! Soy de Arabia Saudita y me han aceptado en un Máster que empieza este septiembre.

Estoy intentando tramitar mi visado de estudiante pero me estoy encontrando con problemas — literalmente no hay citas disponibles en la web de BLS para un visado nacional (visado de estudios). He llamado a BLS y me dijeron que las citas se actualizan semanalmente, pero no he visto ninguna abrirse. También he escrito a la embajada. ¿Alguien ha pasado por esto? ¿Cuánto tardaron en conseguir una cita?

También tengo algunas preguntas generales para quien haya pasado por esto o viva en Valencia:

1. ¿Cuánto tardó realmente el visado de estudiante en procesarse después de entregar la solicitud? La embajada dice 15-45 días, pero ¿cuál es la realidad?

2. ¿Hay algo que pueda necesitar para el visado que no esté en la lista oficial de requisitos? ¿Algún documento que os pilló por sorpresa?

3. Para los que viven en Valencia — ¿hay algo que debería hacer inmediatamente al llegar? (empadronamiento, cita TIE, NIE, cuenta bancaria, etc.) ¿En qué orden se hacen las cosas?

4. ¿Con cuánta antelación debería pedir la cita para el TIE? He oído que los tiempos de espera son largos.

5. ¿Algún consejo general para una estudiante internacional que llega a España por primera vez? ¿Cosas que os hubiera gustado saber antes de llegar?

Ya tengo mi carta de aceptación, seguro médico (Sanitas) y documentos financieros listos. Ahora mismo estoy atascada con el tema de la cita.
