Returning Player

I have 1000+ hours on Destiny 1 and only 20 hours on D2 when it came out. I was too devastated that I lost all of the gear I worked for and hung it up.

Fast forward 9 years and I have the itch to return with the new update. I have some of my old gear, what are the first things I should be doing outside playing the new expansion (Renegades)? Should I be upgrading old weapons such as Hard Light, MIDA multi tool, and other gear? Looking to get back into crucible and complete all the content I’ve missed over the years.
