Drug induced time dilation and “eternities” passing in seconds

NSFWDiscussion

I’ve done my share of psychedelics and dissociatives, much, much less times than some of you here, and never anything as crazy as DMT or something similar, but enough to have experienced insane time dilation and the sense of “eternities” or years passing in a matter of moments.

I was looking online to see what other people had to say about it, and I was surprised to find a lot of people are quite literal when they say “it felt like years passed” or whatnot. I’ve always felt that while it feels incredibly real, it’s still just a feeling and that no matter what chemical you’re on time of course still passes normally.

For instance I don’t believe anyone could have a thousand distinct and well defined thoughts in a fraction of a second. What do you all think about this? Do you think your mind has truly sat through “years” of consciousness while tripping? Why or why not?
