Version 9.1.0 on Apple Silicon Performance

I'm noticing a vast performance gap between 9.1.0 and the previous 8 version. I just edited for example the geolocation via the menu option Item -> Edit Geolocation for 40 photos. It took around a minute for the location to be saved, it was a few seconds on the 8 versions, if that. Editing captions for a group of photos is just as slow. Everything else thus far seems the same.

Any ideas why it is so slow?
