Title: School friend recently got out of a relationship. Am I overthinking her behavior?
I (college student) have known this girl since school. We were friends before, but recently we've started talking a lot more.
She went through a breakup about a month ago, and since then we've been chatting almost every day. We talk about exams, college life, food, family, memes, random things, and sometimes personal stuff.
Some things that stand out:
She keeps conversations going and asks me questions back.
She shares updates about her day without me asking sometimes.
She told me about her exam, shopping plans, and even recently told me she had gone to the hospital.
We joke around a lot and have a comfortable vibe.
She once suggested that we should go out one day.
We later discussed watching a movie together.
She has said she would call me when free.
At the same time, she recently got out of a relationship, so I'm trying to be realistic and not assume anything.
What confuses me is that some days she talks a lot, and other days she disappears for hours and then comes back like nothing happened.
I'm interested in her, but I don't want to mistake post-breakup comfort, friendliness, or emotional support for romantic interest. One thing that stood out to me was that she herself said, "We should go out one day."
Later, we talked about watching a movie together, and when I mentioned that it might just be the two of us, she didn't seem uncomfortable. She even talked about fixing a day for it
Do these signs sound like genuine interest, or does it sound more like she's just comfortable with me because we're old school friends and I'm someone she trusts after the breakup?
