Mid-Year Price Change

This might be old news here, but as someone who recently shopped for a new Forester, I noticed the window sticker standard equipment MSRP (before optional equipment and other items) had a $1,390 difference across various vehicles - same model, same trim level (Wilderness in my case), exact same itemized standard equipment, but two different MSRPs, which of course carries down to the total suggested price and ultimate dealer negotiating reference point.

Looking at VINs, it appears newer vehicles (shipped from the factory more recently) have the lower MSRP, indicating a mid-model year price reduction. The car I wanted had the higher MSRP, so I ultimately got the dealer to price-match based on the lower number. After closing, I asked about the difference, and someone at the dealership said it was due to tariffs. Subaru decided to absorb the hit and hopefully generate more sales.

I've since learned this is specific to Forester and WRX models. Anyway, something to look out for if anyone is shopping for a new Forester.
