Hi everyone! Good afternoon, so I currently have one watch to my name, and it’s a Versace GMT. It was a birthday gift and wasn’t bought anywhere near retail because of a connection, but I’ve really enjoyed owning it and it’s what got me more interested in watches overall. Since then, I’ve done a lot of independent research on what I want my next watch to be, and I think I’ve finally made my decision, being the Grand Seiko on the business card in the photo! I really enjoy the purple dial and the elegance of the watch.
I work fulltime, make decent money for my age, and I’m looking to buy my first genuinely highend watch. Before I pull the trigger, I figured I’d ask people who are far more experienced than I am (which is probably most of this subreddit).
I’d appreciate any knowledge, advice, or things I should know before buying a Grand Seiko. I’d also love to hear your thoughts on my current watch and the Grand Seiko I’m considering. Is it a solid next step, or is there anything else I should be looking at in a similar price range?
I’m also just super curious to learn more about watches in general. Things like different movements, brands, complications, what makes certain watches more respected than others, and any other info you think a newer enthusiast should know.
Thanks in advance for any info you have!
