18 Year old looking for advice :)

Hi everyone,

I’m an 18-year-old in the Lexington area trying to figure out how to become more independent and move out of a difficult home environment. It’s not a safe or healthy situation for me emotionally, and I’m working toward getting on my feet as soon as I realistically can.

Right now, my biggest barriers are transportation and income. I work part-time and make about $200/week, and I currently have around $800 in savings. I’m actively trying to save more, but I feel stuck on how to realistically bridge the gap to being able to afford a car and eventually a room for rent.

I’m also currently looking for a reliable, inexpensive used car if anyone has advice, leads, or knows of anything available in the area.

I’m looking for any advice on:

  • entry-level jobs in the Lexington area that pay better or offer more hours
  • affordable room rentals or roommate situations
  • cheap/reliable used cars or transportation options
  • resources for young adults trying to move out
  • any local organizations, churches, or community help that might support someone in my situation

I’m not expecting anyone to solve everything, but even small advice or pointing me in the right direction would really help.

Thank you for reading.
