English: Today I had a pretty serious TPU 95A filament jam on my Qidi. I thought the printer would handle it without any problems because the extruder has a lot of pulling force, but once the filament starts slipping, it's basically over. The filament gets stuck and won't move anymore.
I ended up having to disassemble almost the entire print head to get to the extruder. I've only had the printer for about 3 weeks. I don't think it's a bad printer, but honestly it's starting to frustrate me a bit.
After taking the extruder apart, I noticed that the drive gears that pull the filament seem to be part of a single assembly, with one of the gears integrated into the shaft. My idea was to redesign that part to improve grip on TPU, maybe by changing the tooth profile or geometry of the drive gear. The problem is that it looks like the whole assembly (gear + shaft) would need to be remade because they're permanently joined together.
Do you think it would make sense to manufacture that part in nylon, ABS, or another material? I'm a beginner when it comes to 3D design, but I'm very comfortable disassembling and reassembling mechanical parts. If someone with design experience would be interested in helping, I'd be happy to document everything and make a full disassembly/reassembly video for the community.
I also found a YouTube tutorial showing how to disassemble the print head. If anyone is interested, I can share the link.
Has anyone else had TPU issues with this printer? At this point I'm honestly considering returning it. I like the machine overall, but experiences like this have left me pretty disappointed.
Thanx to all
