Are recommendation systems better when they help creators find their people instead of just chase bigger spikes?
Hey everyone,
A lot of creator advice still revolves around reach, but it feels like more people are starting to care about audience fit instead.
A big spike can look exciting, but if that audience does not return, it often does very little for long-term momentum. In a lot of cases, smaller but more aligned reach turns out to be much more valuable.
On the Clapper app, we think community-first discovery should do more to connect creators with the audiences most likely to stick. For a lot of creators, finding the right community is more important than finding the biggest one.
Interested in how others think about it:
- Is audience fit becoming a more useful metric than raw scale?
- What matters more long-term: reach, retention, or repeat engagement?
- Are platforms over-rewarding one-off spikes?
