Did Athena kill Kratos’s family?

So I am replaying god of war 1 for the first time in like 2 decades and I always thought it was stupid that Aries put kratos family in a random village and kratos killed them without realizing since he was blinded by rage but, playing it again few things stood out to me. We know that Athena was using kratos to get rid of Aries and the kratos attacked that village because they were worshipping Athena, so is it possible that Athena tricked kratos family to go to the village especially since she in the church there so that kratos would kill them when they attacked her village and then she could blame it all on Aries and set the motions of the games?
