Chainsaw accident derailed my career plan, need advice on where to go now - what would you do if you had to start over?
I was injured at work with a chainsaw to the face.
I have been steadily recovering and luckily there are no lasting physical limitations in what I can do. However unluckily I have severe levels of ptsd that prevent me from returning to my old job.
Because it was a workplace incident I’m covered for retraining/re-education through WSIB (workplace safety and insurance board - Ontario) I am totally lost on where to go from here. There are limitations, for example they won’t fund my education to become a doctor and the career path needs to be in demand/hireable and deemed “suitable” (safe in terms of ptsd, long term, equal pay to old job after certain time, etc)
I wanted to start my own tree service and had started taking the steps to go on my own. I’m now battling severe lack of goals or vision to what I could do and dealing with the fact that I probably have to start from zero. I’m almost 30 but I keep telling myself it’s too late to start over.
What should I get retrained/re-educated to maximize this opportunity that I have?
Any and all advice or questions welcomed, thanks in advance
