Is this rude? Friend forgot birthday - wants to get together for a belated celebration
2F (mid 20s). Here is the text thread:
Her: No I feel so bad š I think since you were out of town that threw me off. Did you celebrate while you were with your family??
Me: Tbh I don't really care about celebrating my birthday as much as I'm getting older. My family was trying to get a cake and do something & I was like naaaah haha. Not for any reason, I guess I just didn't have a desire to celebrate lol. So don't sweat it my love!!
The considered the whole family trip was my celebration & honestly better than I anything I could have planned for:). It was really so great & filled up my cup. Thank you for the birthday wishesš„°š„°š„°ā¤ļø
Her: Stop thatās so sweetš„¹ Iām glad you had a good time and you feel content! but idc weāre still doing something cause EYE want to celebrate YOU!
---------
FYI: The family trip was unrelated to my bday.
I honestly don't care that much that she forgot to say HBD & actually didn't even bring it up or mention it (she was texting me on my bday and after about something unrelated).
Is it rude of me to not want to celebrate? I already tried to communicate that she didn't have to worry about it but I don't want to be rude.
