Is backyard dirt and weeds ok for stick bugs?

I'm getting stick bugs soon but I don't know if I can use dirt, weeds and sticks from my backyard. Is it ok to make their home out of backyard things or do I need to use a certain kind of dirt or store bought plants/sticks?
