Who controls Apito?

>! So after book 8 I have a lot of questions about what is going on with apito and how much of it was planned before the AI went primal, how much was changed to fit with the story so far, and potentially how early something really went wrong.

The first hint of Apito being important to the long term story I can think of is in Book 2. Donut finds the Enchanted Anklet of the Fallen Oak which gets her branded as Apitos version of the Anti-christ.

In book 4 we meet Samantha who's is potentially or definitely, (on a re-listen of the series and can't remember if it was confirmed ) a fragment of Apito.

​

In book 5 Apito supposedly turns up to invite Signet to the Butchers Masquerade. This is when it becomes extremely clear that the show runners do not have control of the gods as they definitely didn't want a side production character present for their main event. We also see the Memorial Crystal for Apito at this event which is another piece of the split up God.

In book 8 we learn that the AI does not have any control over gods. Not that it shouldn't be able to but that their is hard coded limits that can't be bypassed.

With just those bits in mind it seems likely that the Apito mystery was in motion no later than the 5th floor but most likely the 4th and potentially the 2nd.

This poses a lot of questions.

​

What entity was in control of the butchers Masquerade list and appeared to Signet? The list is supposed to be made by Apito, and someone who looked like Apito turned up but it couldn't have been her as two fragments of her were also present so she was already missing.

​

Who was in control of this entity? If it was a god, which seems likely considering the power displayed than it couldn't have been the AI as it can't control them.

​

We know that Eris was sponsored and is basically always sponsored so it seems likely the sponsor would have entered the dungeon quiet early so it couldn't be her.

​

Nekabit is another contender but she was supposedly a forgot God who wasn't in the halls of acendancy until the 8th Floor so that seems unlikely.

​

Anyone any ideas about who might be in control of Apito or even who Apito was for the 5th floor? !<
