Having to edit chatbot-generated texts is torture

I work in marketing. I won’t go into specifics, but basically my job involves working with authors and making sure their texts are readable and contain useful information for our target audience, which is other companies.

I suspect that some of the authors I work with use AI because their articles have those vibe-based, vague, overconfident descriptions that violate the premise of the text and are very hard to verify. You’d think this would be “good enough” for marketing content, but nope. I end up leaving lots of comments just asking to please research the topic and use information that is relevant. And then, because the author is likely using prompts, they end up rewriting the passage entirely, so we lose whatever worked and have to start from scratch.

I guess I should consider myself lucky that I even have a job in this climate, and maybe I should work on taking my job less seriously, but it’s so demoralizing. It feels like I am doing double the work just because these generated texts have no solid foundation or logic, and you end up doing work that should have been done before editing even began. So much of writing is actually thinking, and when it’s absent from the process, it’s just glaringly obvious.
