Help with Mom's IRA ๐ฎโ๐จ
Hi everyone, I appreciate you clicking here and possibly helping me. My mom has dementia. I am recently her POA. She has about 230k in an IRA. In the past 4 months she has transferred out 200k to some investment, without my POA permission, and I have been going crazy to get it back. She has no recollection of any of this. She doesn't even remember we just did this 2 months ago. Because I can't stop her, I have been told an annuity is the way to go. It locks up the money, guaranteed payment for life, and if there's any money leftover when she passes, we get it back. She's 70 and I think she's going to need assisted living in the next year. People are telling me I'm doing it wrong. But I literally don't know how to do this stuff. Like, AI is my resource?

So please, anyone, tell me how to protect my mom's money. Should I get a fidelity IRA? Annuity? I would love to get her more than $1500 a month. Her ss is about $1700 a month in addition. Local assisted living is about $5k a month or more. Should I spend through her money, then put her in Medicaid nursing home? Her health is pretty good other than dementia and I could see her lasting another 10 years.
