Is this job a scam?
Hi, everyone! I am new to the insurance sales world and I was wondering if this job is a scam. I applied on Indeed to Helping Hands- Insurance and so far they've been super nice. I had an information call on Monday and the guy said that I didn't have to buy leads, that they were all provided to us, and that I would just have to pay the state to get my license, which seems legit. He even showed what some of the agents were making a week. Today I had a phone interview and the guy said something that threw me off a bit.
I've always been told you should never pay someone to work at their business but, in a way, insurance sales is the opposite, right? Pay for leads, etc. But the guy said I'd have to pay to use a Lead Management System and they're Texting Software, like $200 a month (not a bad thing if it's legit, I just dont want to pay it if it is a scam). Is that a thing?
It should also be noted after I got off the call I did some Googleing (not sure why I did it after the call and not before like I normally do but whatever) and found that there is a HelpingHandsAct.com (scam according to reddit) and a HelpingHands-Insurance.org (the one I applied to, possibly not a scam). Oh, and this would be a 1099 position and not W-2 doing health insurance.
Any comments would be great! Thank you!!
