Hey everyone,
We all spend so much time scrolling through videos, pictures, and posts on Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, X, and YouTube. After a while it gets easy to forget to check in with ourselves and think about how we’re actually feeling or what’s important that day.

That’s why I created JournalFirst.

The idea is pretty straightforward: you write a quick journal entry before opening your usual social apps. Just a small moment for yourself first, instead of jumping straight into everyone else’s content.

I built this because I had the exact same problem. I’d plan to journal every morning but the second I grabbed my phone I’d be lost in reels for an hour. So I made a simple system that uses Apple’s Screen Time to block my chosen apps until I write something. It finally helped me actually stick with it.

You get to decide which apps get blocked, how often you want to journal, and when those check-ins happen. It also has daily streaks, some gentle prompts if you’re not sure what to write, and everything stays completely private and stored only on your phone.

I’m offering it completely free for the next 48 hours (normally it’s a one-time $49.99 lifetime purchase).

**If you want a free redemption link to download it, just upvote this post and comment “journalfirst” below and I’ll send it to you.**

You can also grab it directly here:

I’d really love to hear what you think. Do you believe taking a quick moment to check in with yourself before scrolling would actually help, or would it just feel like another annoying thing to do?
Especially curious from anyone who’s tried building a journaling habit before but had trouble staying consistent.
If you give it a try and enjoy it, a 5-star review on the App Store would mean a lot and helps support future updates.
Thanks for reading!
