Explanations for why deadeathers are driving social media conversations?
New girl on social media, especially Reddit. And, man, I never knew such wild assumptions could spread like a disease. Seriously, faster than the Covid. Genocide? Romanticizing terror organizations like the Hamas? "Zionists" as a new euphemism for Jews? What is wrong with people? I am at a loss for words over every new, feral accusation against the Israeli population.
It looks like people have completely lost it. The line between good and bad, truth and lies, is blurring over some philosophical, two-cent statements taking over what are supposed to be sensible people (which is making me ask myself if there's some new virus attacking said sensibility). People seem to have lost their ability to think independently. They read a random infographic, parrot the slogans, and suddenly deep-rooted hate is just another edgy trend. Monsters like Those-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named are backed up, and their actions are suddenly justified by some selective 80-year-old notes (not even getting into that).
Wiping a whole nation off the map is spoken of as if it’s some kind of a 'valid' opinion. And people go around shouting nonsense like a creepy herd...
That it's just wrong.
Whatever happened to fact-checking? Checking sources? What happened to critical thinking? Does anyone actually doubt what would happen to a guy if he decided to walk down a pro-Palestinian neighborhood with Jewish symbols? Let alone an actual Palestinian street?
How do we know if the opinions we hold are actually our own, or just something we were condition to repeat?
