Recommendations

So I been taking Slynd which I luckily haven't had any side effects yet. But I got recommended to take metformin which due to my schedule I simply can't take it gives me really bad runs and seems to be not helping at all. I changed my diet I exercise even more then before now. But I still have no changes and took myself off metformin. I asked my doctor she never replied but would Berberine be a option for helping my blood sugar levels? I also didn't want to take it if it might cause any side effects or effect my birth control. I just got no clue what to do and feel hopeless in even asking my doctor at this point. I feel like I missed a lot including my younger sister graduation due to this non stop sickness from metformin.
