AITA FOR CUTTING OFF IN LAWS FOR NOT ATTENDING OR CONTACTING ONLY GRANDKID FOR GRADUATION

My daughter recently graduated high school. She is the only grandchild on both sides. My mom passed 2 years ago and was incredibly close to my daughter. My dad attended graduation and that's a huge thing for him since he struggles with big crowds since a major stroke.

My in laws moved about 10 hours away when daughter was 8 to be live near MIL's twin sister. We see them maybe once a year.

I mailed a graduation announcement about 3 months before graduation so they'd be able to arrange a trip down. NEVER even mentioned they had received it until my husband asked his mom. Instead they will be coming to visit in September when MIL is coming to pet sit for her niece who lives about an hour from us.

I said unfortunately we will be busy and my husband is out of town during the time she will be here.

My in laws never even called, text or sent a card of congratulations to my daughter for graduating and her feelings are incredibly hurt. Family friends drove out from Utah at 5am to make her graduation, neighbors gave her cards and cash, my best friend's mom even attended. AITA for going lower contact and refusing to see them in september? Is a high school graduation not a big deal anymore?
