Blood under toenails 29F

Subungual hematoma on big toes

My wife (late 20s, good health) recently wore poorly fitting shoes for two straight days which resulted in painful bruises under both of her big toes.

This turned into blood completely beneath both nails covering the whole nail. It has been 10 days and the pain is much less now but when she was clipping the nails blood and clear liquid started coming from beneath so she squeezed a good bit of the liquid out.

I am getting her disinfectant and bandages to keep the wounds covered, but is there anything else we should be doing? The nails are still attached and the pain is much less. We are traveling so seeing a doc would be difficult, hoping to monitor this on its own.
