1 week Post Op of Total Hysterectomy
Ok so for a bit of background, I had endometriosis excision surgery back in November where it was found that I most likely also had Adenomyosis. My surgeon and I waited a few months to see if my painful endo symptoms were improving but unfortunately I saw no relief from the excision surgery. This, plus what she saw physically in surgery, led my surgeon to feel comfortable that I did have adenomyosis and that my symptoms were a result of that. Per previous trying we knew I did not do well with HRT or birth control so a hysterectomy was recommended. I took a some time to think about it and made a decision which led to me having a Robotic Laparoscopic Total Hysterectomy one week ago today.
Let me just say, I could not be happier with my decision so far. I know I’m only one week out but I’m already seeing an improvement in my symptoms. In my cycle I should be about 3-4 days from when I would have gotten my period. Prior to surgery, for over the past 5ish years, the 7ish days leading up to my period came with a range of symptoms, the worse one being my hip pain. For a week prior to my period my hips would feel weak, tight, and incredibly sore. No matter how many things I tried to prevent or lessen this pain nothing ever worked. If anything, stretching just made it worse. One week post op, 3-4 days before what should have been my period and nothing? No pain. No stiffness. No random muscle weakness. Just…nothing. I’m sorry if this doesn’t make a lot of sense I am just shocked. I didn’t expect this to be any different I mean.. I hoped, don’t get me wrong, but I didn’t expect anything this first month since it was so close to the surgery. I feel like I want to cry I’m so happy.
