Starting a career as SWE in Test

I'm graduating from the computer engineering department of the most prestigious university in my country with a nice cGPA. I've been working part-time as a Software Engineer Test at a defense company, where I write automated tests, develop simulators, and work on various testing-related tasks.

I really like the people I work with, and the job is well-paid and stable.

The thing is, I'm not sure whether I want to continue in software testing throughout my career, since software/product development has always been more interesting to me. I shared these concerns with my manager, and they suggested that I start in my current role full-time after graduation and reassess after some time; if I still feel that test isn't the right long-term path for me, I may transfer to a software development position within the company.

I'd appreciate your thoughts on this situation. Do you think there's a risk of getting stuck in a testing career path even if I later decide that I want to move into software development?
