I figured I’d share my family’s journey because reading these posts helped me stay sane while waiting.
**Category:** EB-2 NIW (Father as principal applicant)

**08/01/2025**
Visa bulletin retrogressed shortly after filing. Waiting game began.
**09/30/2025**
Turned 21 years old. This was probably one of the most stressful parts of the process because I was worried about aging out, but CSPA protected me.
**11/25/2025**
EAD approved.
**12/03/2025**
EAD card received.
**The Long Wait**
For several months there was almost no movement.
At one point our case was transferred from NBC to Santa Ana, California. Many people told us that meant approval was close. It wasn’t.
Then in March 2026 things started moving again.
**03/25/2026**
Learned the case had been transferred to Omaha Field Office and an interview was being requested. We had previously been told the interview was waived, so this was unexpected.
**04/24/2026**
Interview notice generated.
**Interview**
**05/29/2026**
Family employment-based adjustment interview at Omaha Field Office.
The interview was actually very straightforward.
The officer interviewed my parents together first, then interviewed me and my sister together.
Topics included:
Standard I-485 yes/no questions
Verification of information
My father’s job change
The main reason for the interview appeared to be that my father had changed employers after filing. He remained in the same industry and same profession.
The officer told us the case looked straightforward and was heading toward approval, but said a decision could still take a few months.

**Approval**
**06/02/2026**
Portal updated and action-required indicators disappeared for the entire family.
**06/03/2026**
“New Card Is Being Produced”
This was the first real sign that we had finally made it.
**06/04/2026**
“Case Approved” and “Card Was Produced”
**Total Time**
**Priority Date to Green Card Approval:** \~2 years, 8 months
**I-485 Filing to Approval:** \~10 months
**Interview to Approval:** 5 days
**Things That Caused Me the Most Stress**
Retrogression right after filing.
Turning 21 during the process.
Being told interview waived, then later getting scheduled for an interview.
Case transfer to multiple offices.
Months of complete silence from USCIS.
**Final Thoughts**
Looking back, most of the things I spent months worrying about ended up not mattering:
Aging out.
My father’s job change.
The interview.
The case bouncing between offices.
If you’re in a similar employment-based adjustment case and your case seems stuck, don’t assume silence means something is wrong. Ours went from months of no movement to interview, approval, and card production very quickly.
Today the entire family is approved and the green cards are in hand or on the way.
Good luck to everyone still waiting. The waiting is by far the hardest part.

Finally Greened 💚💚
