Building the "Quittr" of gambling

I'm one of the founders of CashOut - Quit gambling, an app that blocks gambling and betting sites/apps on your phone so you physically can't act on an urge. Think of it like the gambling version of what Quittr did for porn. Our north star is helping a million people quit.

I'm posting here mostly because distribution is the hard part and I'd value this group's read on it. A few things we've figured out so far:

  • The product is the easy half. Blocking is a solved technical problem. The actual problem is reaching someone in the 30-second window where they're motivated to quit, because that window closes fast.
  • Recovery is a trust category, not a feature category. Nobody downloads a blocker because of a feature list — they download it because someone they relate to said it helped. That changes everything about how we market.
  • Content is our CAC. We're treating organic content (real stories, the mechanics of why blocking works) as the channel, not paid ads.

Open questions I'd genuinely like input on: how would you price something where the user is most willing to pay at their lowest moment and least willing once they feel better? And how do you build for retention in a category where success means the user eventually doesn't need you?

Happy to answer anything about the build, the market, or the go-to-market. Roast it if you want.
