AC system replacement 2011 XB

AC went out last summer. Took it in to get diagnosed and they said everything needed replaced which I have a hard time believing but it is what it is. Now the second summer is coming up with no AC. It gets very hot and humid here in the summers. I'd like to take a shot at getting it fixed. Thinking of going at it with a friend myself. I'm considering getting the compressor kit with the condenser and the evaporator from rock auto. Then going at it ourselves on a Sunday. For those who have done this, what brands did you go with. I see UAC, GPD and Four seasons currently. All are unfamiliar brands to me. Which one do you guys reccomend?
